A Pep Talk for You

Tomorrow is my anniversary.

No, not my wedding anniversary or something like that.

Tomorrow is my anniversary of leaving my job managing grants at a large non-profit organization to start MyFedTrainer.

That’s why I wanted to share this message with you TODAY.

Because after talking about the new grant regulations for the last few months, I thought you could use a pep talk about possibilities.

The Power of Online Training

People sometimes ask me: “Why would I leave the safety of a steady job and create a company doing online training?”

Like Kid President, I decided that it was time to do something.

I want to make the world a better place.

I want to help people do their jobs better.

  • Feel more confident and prepared.

The Power of Pompoms

But even more, I want people to feel like they are not alone.

Sure, the result may be spending federal funds more effectively…

But in my mind, I pictured all of us at MyFedTrainer with a set of pompoms.

My vision was us cheering on every client–whether they were sitting A Pep Talk for You at a laptop in Antarctica or working in a village in Alaska.

  • Come on!
  • Just a little further!
  • You can do it!!!

My Secret Mission

I also had a secret mission.

I wanted to spread the word that grant management doesn’t have to be a big mystery.

Or some boring topic reserved for one or two “Bean-Counters” at the organizations.

Because you know what?

Boring is easy.

  • Boring is an excuse to not dig deeper.
  • Boring is a way to not share information.
  • Boring is a way to pass the buck to someone else.

I want the power to be excellent shared throughout the organization.

Not just reserved for a chosen few.

Because…

The Path to Awesome

We are on the same team.

  • We all want to do a good job.
  • We all want to help people.

So let’s start doing something.
