Wondering how your implementation of the new grant regulations compares with other award recipients?
We recently surveyed our grant community to see how the implementation of the new grant regulations was going.
We imagined some unanticipated results, but even I was amazed by the responses.
Here are the results:
What New Grant Regulations?
The first surprising thing we discovered in our survey is that most people are VERY EARLY in the implementation process.
So if you are feeling a little stressed about getting everything done by the for the new grant regulations, you are in good company!
In fact, one in ten people responded with “What New Grant Regulations?”
(If you are one of them, here is a great “cheat-sheet” on the major changes.)
Overall, about half say “Things are a bit wobbly, but we’ll get there in time.”
This optimism is great, but only one in 10 felt like they were right on-track with the implementation.
What about the remaining 40%?
They ranged from “not a clue” to “thinking about it, but not really taking any action.”
It’s clear that like most things, there will be a fair percentage of people scrambling at the last minute to get things put into place.
You Are Grant Management Resources For Others
It was no surprise to us that we have a great and caring grant community.
Our survey found that over 70% of you are resource for others at your organization for grant management.
Nearly 60% of you are leading some or all of the implementation of the new grant regulations at your organization.
And over one-third are responsible for training others on the new OMB “Super Circular” grant regulations.
It Take A Team To Implement Grant Management Changes
We also wanted to see how many of you were working with others to get the new grant regulations put into place at your organization.
Over 53% of survey respondents are working with a team of two-five people.
Another 25% were working with teams of 6-10 people, or even more.
We were happy to see most of you have a team to get this major change initiative implemented.
Kudos to your organizations for including others and spreading the work around!
You have positioned yourselves for the best chance of a successful implementation process!
Unfortunately, for 16% of you, to quote Gandhi “You must be the change you wish to see in the world” because you are working on the implementation all-by-yourself.
